Grigory Shamakov from Zelenograd got Youth Olympic Games gold medal in Argentina. He won 10 meters rifle competition. This gold trophy was the first medal set of the Russian national team in the world tournament.

The closest pursuer from India, who finished second in line, yuilded 2 points to Grigory, and the third shooter from Serbia – as many as 20 points.

- It has been my dream since childhood – to win the Olympic Games, even if of Youth category, and when it happened I could not believe it! – said Gregory Shamakov in TV Channel One interview.

The Youth Olympic Games were held in Buenos Aires from October 6 to October 18, 2018.

A month before the start of the Youth Olympic Games, G. Shamakov won the gold medal at the World Shooting Championship in South Korea. Also this year, he collected a full set of medals at the European Championships in Hungary: 2 gold, one silver and one bronze medals.
