Champion of the Olympic games in Rio Helena Topilina – the pride of Zelenograd

The citizen of Zelenograd Helena Topilina, honored master of sports, repeated world and European champion, became the Olympic champion in the Russian team in the synchronised swimming at the XXXI Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro.

We took a small interview with Helena prior to her departure on vacation. She was driving a white BMWX6, donated her win at the Olympics.

You've achieved all in sport. Which the nearest future plans   do you have? Are you goint  to continue sports career?

– Firstly, I’m going to relax, then study  at State University of management, faculty "State and municipal management", and then all the rest.

Why your parents gave you that name?

– My  father had decided and mother supported him. I didn't like my name in childhood, the classmatesmade fun of it. . But now I love this name and have never met girls with that name.

How long do you drive? Do you like the gifted car?

– I have been driving a car since 18 years. I drove a variety of cars with manual and automatic transmission, but this car is the best!

How long can you hold your breath under water?

I hold  three minutes easy.

– Is your family sporting?

– Yes. My father Dmitry was engaged in wrestling, now he is the President of Sambo Federation of Zelenograd. My brother Egor is engaged in Sambo and judo like our father at the sport school №114. Younger sister Dasha is also involved in synchronized swimming, and now works as a coach. And our mom Alena is our geeral supporter.

Helena Topilina helped the Russian team in synchronized swimming to win the gold medal of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Natalia Ishenko, Svetlana Kolesnichenko, Alexandra Patskevich, Elena Prokofyeva, Svetlana Romashina, Alla Shishkina, Maria Shurochkina and Vlada Chigiryova was also in the team.

Helena Topilina is a graduate of the physical culture and sports Association "Youth of Moscow".
