In the Zelenograd hospital, the reception of plasma donors who had been ill with coronavirus began. The chief physician of the hospital Irina Yarotskaya wrote about this on her Facebook page:
- Our transfusiology department has begun preparing and forming a plasma bank of convalescence donors for the treatment of seriously ill patients with COVID-19.
And here is our first volunteer donor - Lyudmila Emelyanova, head of the intensive care unit of the Zelenograd hospital. Doctors stated - she defeated the coronavirus!
We hope that the flow of Zelenograd residents who recovered from the coronavirus infection and who are ready to help those who are now on the verge of death will be endless.
On April 30, we prepared the first 600 ml of immune plasma. It underwent pathogenic inactivation and was frozen. Blood samples taken during donation, in addition to standard tests for infections, will also be tested for the presence of coronavirus itself, antibodies to it and HLA antibodies (for women).
Our blood transfusion department does not stop working with blood donors and its components. But for the donation of immune plasma, individual days will be determined.
