June 22, at 4:00 a.m. – Zelenograd remembers!

June 22, Zelenograd together with the whole country recalled one of the most tragic in the history of our country's events – the beginning of the Great Patriotic war. At the same time, several events took place in Zelenograd on this day designed to honor those, whose lives were claimed by the war with fascist occupiers.

The annual event "We remember!", dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic war, was held in the Park of the 40th anniversary of the Victory. As in previous years, the event was organized by student Council of National Research University of Electronic Technology "MIET", located in Zelenograd.

The cascade of fountains near the Central square has become a traditional venue of the action of mourning for victims of the great Patriotic war who died at the hands of the fascist German occupiers from 1941 to 1945 years. The number of Soviet citizens who died during this war amounted to 26.6 million people, including civilians. Today there is almost no family in Russia and all former Soviet republics, which would not have been struck by this tragedy: the military, health workers, volunteers, children and the elderly men – the entire Soviet people rose to defend their native land from the enemy, who attacked the Soviet Union without a Declaration of war 75 years ago!

Students of National Research University of Electronic Technology "MIET" took part in the action generally. But other Zelenograd citizens came to the Park of the 40th anniversary of the Victory, despite the early hour. Memory candles were lit at 4:00 a.m., and after the alarming sound of a metronome a minute of silence in memory of the killed protectors of our Motherland started in the Park. After that, the action participants went to the monument of Soviet Union Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky to lay flowers.

Also, Zelenograd citizens came at a mass grave in the village Kamenka to participate in the Patriotic action "Watch of memory" dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Patriotic war. War veterans, youth, government officials, priests and other Zelenograd citizens took part in this action. The action participants began to gather at the monument since 3 a.m., took the candles, lined up along the pedestal, considered a thematic photo exhibition, communicated with each other. The sound of sirens, military aircraft, and the voice of Yury Levitan's announcement of the beginning of the war sounded in the recording exactly at 4 a.m. – so the organizers tried to recreate the atmosphere of the beginning of the Great Patriotic war.

After that, the pedestal brought a Banner of Victory, commemorated the victims with a minute of silence, the priest father Mikhail Ilyin with the parishioners of St. Prince Alexander Nevsky church read the prayer for the dead, and the participants laid flowers at the mass grave.

Zelenograd is the only administrative district of Moscow, which advanced the front line – the last line of defense of the capital of the USSR. Ferocious fighting was going on the territory of present Zelenograd on 29 November to 8 December 1941 year. Railway settlement Kryukovo and village Matushkino were the last settlements captured by the fascists. There was nowhere to step back! The Soviet army, after heavy defensive battles, December 6, went on the offensive with endurance, heroism and courage. The risk of capture of Moscow has passed.

The Day of Memory and Grief is celebrated annually on June 22 in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine. State flags lowered in the Russian Federation on this day. All TV channels and radio stations is not recommended in this day to include live entertainment and advertising.
