Zelenograd celebrates its birthday on 3 March. The resolution of the USSR Council of Ministers No. 248 "On the construction of a new town in a suburban area of Moscow, near Kryukovo station of the Oktyabrskaya railway", was released on this day in 1958. According to this Decree 3 March 1958 is the birthday of Zelenograd.

Zelenograd was built not on an empty place. The villages were located on this land since the Sixteenth century. Mention of them can be found on the pages of the scribe books. Kryukovo, Sarafanovo, Kadievo, Matushkino, Nazaryevo, Nikolskoe, Savelki, Alabushevo and other localities mentioned in these books. The most significant pages of the history connected to the people of the village of Kryukovo, which became a key location in the defence of Moscow in the hard 1941. Heroic Panfilov division was continuous fighting on the approaches to Moscow during the month. The Soviet counter-offensive began here.

Zelenograd has taken a leading place in the Soviet electronic industry since the beginning of the first enterprises and, despite the difficulties of recent years, remains a leader in this industry.

Zelenograd was created as a town of the future. There is great potential at this stage of Zelenograd: the ability to develop production, modern minded leaders of significant intellectual resources. This gives confidence in the worthy future of our town.
