In April, the Contracting company which carries out restoration works on the Monument of Glory at the 40th km of the Leningrad highway, plans to implement preventive measures to finally finish the first stage. And for the second stage of reconstruction, the restorers plan to start after the end of the commemorative events dedicated to the Victory Day may 9.

In an interview on the radio "Zelenograd today" said the head of the Department of social development of the Prefecture of the district Vladimir Kolesnikov.

Work on the Monument of Glory was launched in August last year. The restorers put in order the bayonets and the pedestal of the monument. The first stage of reconstruction was completed by the celebration of the anniversary of the Soviet counteroffensive against the Nazi invaders during the battle of Moscow – 5 December 2016. And soon the contractor will come to the continuation of the work. It is planned to restore the bas-relief of the monument of Glory, and to conduct a series of ground works associated with the Kurgan and waterproofing. Work will start after the celebration of Victory Day on 9 may, and in April will be carried out preventive work. To complete the full restoration of the monument of Glory is planned for city Day in September of this year, – said Vladimir Kolesnikov.

Over the past five years in the city held a range of events aimed at preservation and improvement of the memorable places of the district. The 70th anniversary of the Battle for Moscow in a Park near Kryukovo station, the monument "Defenders of Moscow" was a improvement, as well as immortalized 511 died for their country men. In 2015 year, investors had put in order the mass grave in the former village of Kamenka. And today is the restoration of the largest war memorial in Zelenograd – the monument of Glory on the Leningrad highway.
