PJSC «Micron» optimized the main technological processes of crystal production and reduced operational risks with the using of its own RFID-solution for automation of production processes. This was reported in the press service of the microelectronic enterprise of Zelenograd.
– Each plate with microcircuits requires about 400 operations for four months, and errors in this process are unacceptable. There are many different ways to exclude the human factor in such production, but most of them are very expensive. We needed an economically viable solution that would be quickly implemented and easily serviced. We developed this solution ourselves on the basis of radio frequency identification technology, – said Sergei Romanychev, the chief of the microchip production department at PJSC «Mikron».
During the automation project, all silicon wafers and loading ports were equipped with RFID-tags of their own production. The tags are read by the phone with the NFC module, after that the operation is started automatically, excluding any errors related with the human factor. There is no need to purchase or manufacture additional expensive equipment for the reading of labels, spend money for its subsequent maintenance and repair. The solution also includes proprietary software. At the current stage of the project, 5 out of 9 sections of the workshop were automated, covering 80% of all technological processes.
The human factor accounts for a significant share of risks in modern production. Therefore, the industrial strategy of «Micron» provides not only continuous modernization and expansion of production facilities, but also reducing operational risks and optimizing processes to ensure consistently high quality products and expand the range.
