The Russian Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare has registered the REAL RNA test system developed by Sistema-BioTech for the detection of coronavirus.

It is an alternative to the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method and allows to get test results for COVID-19 in the laboratory within 15 minutes.

The new tests will be produced by the Zelenograd plant "Binnopharm" of the Alium group of companies. Previously registered test systems for express diagnostics of COVID-19, as well as the first Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection, are already being produced there.

The new test system detects coronavirus RNA in a sample of human biological material with a high accuracy of 85%, about five times faster than a standard PCR test, which usually takes up to one and a half hours to complete. This significantly speeds up the analysis and increases the testing capabilities of the amplifier - a laboratory device that provides periodic cooling and heating of PCR tubes.
