
Zelenograd developer and manufacturer of anthropomorphic robots, neuroproducts and bioprostheses, the company “Neurobotics” announced the launch of the serial production of the unique neuro-headset “Neuropley-8S”. The development of Zelenograd citizens will improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, TASS reported.
“The device will refer to “consumer-grade neuro-interfaces”, so it can be used without a contact gel, which usually serves to better conduct signals from the cerebral cortex. Another advantage of the headset is its ease of adjustment: it is reported that “basic commands can be mastered in less than an hour” the news release said.
The neuro-headset allows you to transfer information between the brain and an electronic device outside the laboratory walls.
The development of the headset is carried out within the framework of the project “Assistive technologies with neuro management” of the National Technological Initiative (STI). It is reported that the development will be available to consumers by the end of 2018.
Within the framework of the STI project, devices for electrical stimulation of the brain and muscles “Neurocomputer”, the Robocom complex and a wheelchair with neural control are also being developed. Devices can be used in a complex manner. For example, “Neurocommunicator” with the help of the Neuropley-8S headset can help to find other devices – smart cane, speech recognition, headphones with bone conduction: after the user's mental command the devices begin to vibrate, and they are easy to find by touch.
The rehabilitation complex is designed for people with congenital neurological diseases, spine traumas, hearing and visual impairment, as well as patients with multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and patients who have suffered a stroke. Thus, potential users of the complex may be 13 million Russians with disabilities. At the same time, some components, for example, the “Neuroplei-8C” headset, can be used not only for medical purposes, but also for training cognitive abilities, managing drones and robots.
