Mikron presented its vision of technological opportunities and risks in the sphere of digitalization of the urban environment and the development of the Internet of things at the 22nd Russian Internet Forum (RIF 2018).

On the first day, on the discussion about of the regulation of the Internet of things organized by the AIV, Olga Pestereva, Deputy General Director for Communications of PJSC "Micron", presented the development of microelectronics in the Internet segment of things and the impact of the electronic component base on risk factors in digital environments: "On the Internet of things where there is an exchange of data between billions of devices, to guarantee the absence of undeclared capabilities in the identification of objects can only be at the hardware level, using the microcircuits of the fatherlands production".

Director for Strategic Development of PJSC "Mikron" Karina Abagyan, speking at the round table "Cities of the Future. A glance at the accelerated development of the economy" singled out:

– Smart cities are a new big market for Russian technology companies. In the interests of the country's technological independence, it is important to regulate this market so that it serves to develop Russian industry and science, rather than give it to foreign suppliers with ready-made closed systems. Critical link of an intelligent city is the equipment that collects data. It is important that it is implemented on Russian components.

Today, more than half of the world's population lives in cities, in Russia this figure exceeds 74%. The management of resources and services of the urban environment becomes impossible without the large-scale application of digital technologies in all vital processes, from housing and transport infrastructure to educational and medical systems. But ubiquitous digitalization exacerbates issues of information and technological security, which must be solved, including at the hardware level.

The round table "Cities of the Future" discussed perspectives, risks and ways of solving urgent problems in the field of technologies for a smart city, taking into account international best practices.

"Mikron" is the official chip maker of RIF-2018, the functionality of "smart badge" provides management of the logistics of the event and convenient access of participants to the content and activities of the forum. RIF visitors used various functions of badges with RFID-tags "Micron" more than 7000 times for the first day of the forum.
