MIET has been ranked 351+ among the best universities in emerging market countries by Times Higher Education, the world's leading rating agency. The rating includes 35 best Russian universities in total.

MIET’s joining THE ranking means high international appraisal by indicators such as overall reputation, quoting in scientific journals, research work, cooperation with other countries and industrial income. MIET improved the last two indicators as compared to the previous year.

According to THE, the leading universities in the emerging economies’ best universities ranking are Chinese universities, with which MIET has long been friends and conducts joint seminars and trainings.

In 2018, MIET was ranked among the world best universities in engineering and technology according to THE, and among top 20 Russian universities in THE University Ranking of Eurasia Nations, the regional ranking of the Eurasian region countries.
