Power Source Operable for 10 years Without Recharge Created in MIET

University researchers have developed a portable power source as part of the project supported by Russian Science Foundation grant. It can be used when other energy sources are not available. It is able to provide power for emergency GPS-GLONASS beacons. Also, the product can be used for monitoring natural and man-made disasters, while maintaining performance for about 10 years. This is essential for the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other departments.

The operation principle of the new power source is to convert the heat emitted from the nanocomposite material into electricity by a thermoelectric generator. This material was developed by the scientists from the Institute of Advanced Materials and Technologies. When activated, it begins to generate heat, and then energy is transferred from a thermoelectric generator to a capacitor or a lithium-ion battery.

The product is unrivalled and has been patented.
