Zelenograd youth karate team successfully participated in the 17th international karate tournament «The Funakoshi Cup» in Abkhazia on the 9th of August. The tournament was attended by more than 200 athletes from Abkhazia, Russia and Turkey. Our athletes Alexey Popernack, Varvara Popernack and Linar Tagirov has won one gold, one silver and four bronze medals, according to the Department of physical culture and sports of Moscow.

As noted on the website of the Prefecture of Zelenograd district, six athletes will represent Russia at the World Cup, that  will be held in Sapporo, Japan in September: Jaroslav Drobyshev, Gamzat Nurudinov, Maria Rybnikova, Linar Tagirov, Alexander Terekhin and Alexander Chichvarin.
