
Pupil of the 6th grade of school No. 1557 named after P.L. Kapitsa Platon Kachalin acted as a speaker at the fourth International Conference «Mendeleev-150», which brought together in St. Petersburg world-famous chemical scientists, physicists from Russia, the USA, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Germany, Israel, China and other countries.
The event was held as part of the year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements, announced by the UN. The language of the event was English.
Plato Kachalin became the youngest speaker of the conference and participated in the final session together with such famous scientists as Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences Artem Oganov and evolutionary biologist David Siborg, son of the famous Nobel laureate Glenn Siborg. Plato's report was devoted to peculiar (having an unusual chemical composition) stars. The topic is on the border of chemistry and astronomy.
