Zelenograd Hosts 183 Swimming Birds

The inventory of the waterfowl that spends winter on the Skhodnya River in Zelenograd was taken as part of the "Gray Neck" initiative. The Okrug Territories Protection Directorate employees as well as secondary schools students and volunteers participated in the event.

Inspectors with binoculars and cameras traveled along the river on the 12th microdistrict territory where ducks use to spend winter. In the ice-free area in the valley, they lured the birds with bread and took photographs of them from both sides of the bridge.

As a result, the participants counted 182 mallards: 94 drakes and 88 ducks. They also spotted one male green-winged teal that has spent the winter in Zelenograd for several years.
