Who and how will be responsible for offenses committed using artificial intelligence and robots?

Everybody uses high technologies nowadays. Alas, this area was not ignored by scammers.

As Zelenograd Prosecutor Vladimir Rodin noted, the criminal environment has firmly mastered the potential of the latest technological advances. According to him, since 2013, the crime rate with the use of information technology has increased 20 times. Remote offenses are not only theft, but also crimes against the person, extremism, terrorism, drug trafficking.

The deputy prefect of Zelenograd, Andrey Novozhilov, said that in the last two weeks alone, the number of cyberattacks on information resources of prefectures and district administrations has grown to 27,000. They were repulsed, but the very fact of such threats is alarming.

The II International Scientific and Practical Conference "High-tech law: genesis and prospects" held at MIET (the largest university in Zelenograd) was devoted to these problems.

Head of the Department of Law at MIET Lev Bertovsky invited the audience to think:

– According to statistics, in 2020 the total number of criminal incidents in Russia decreased by 2-3%. While the number of cybercrimes has increased by 90%! Who and how will be responsible for offenses committed using artificial intelligence and robots? Or maybe they themselves will become the subject of law? There is a need for legal regulation of cryptocurrencies and the development of cyberspace.

The conference participants came to the conclusion that it is necessary to hold such meetings annually and change their format.

Let us remind you that the direction "Legal support of national security" was created at MIET two years ago.

– Graduates will be specialists in both programming and jurisprudence. This is the future, – said MIET rector Vladimir Bespalov.
