SEMICON Russia 2011: GDP of Russian microelectronics can double by 2015

NIIME I Mikron JSC and Sitronics Mikroelektronika became official partners of SEMICON Russia 2011 annual international exhibition. Within its framework ‘European opinion: Russian microelectronics in global semiconductor industry’ media briefing was held, with president of SEMI Europe international industrial microelectronics association Heinz Kundert taking part in it.

As deputy general director in charge of marketing of NIIME I Mikron JSC A. Golushko reported, “GDP volume for electronic chips and components in Russia is estimated at $1.9 billion nowadays, being about 1% of global microelectronics market. Due to possible resumption of nanoelectronic facilities for 65/45 nm design rules at 300 mm plates’ production the interest of global companies towards Russia is growing”.

“If the project is realized, and technology ecosystem with global companies taking part in it set, by 2015 GDP of Russian microelectronics can double, with reaching volume of $4 billion. My colleagues from global companies and microelectronic clusters of Dresden and Grenoble are optimistic about opportunities of cooperation with Zelenograd cluster”, added Heinz Kundert.
