NASA decided in favour of mAVR audio-video recorder by Telesystemy company (Zelenograd). With extremely small weight, size and power consumption it provides high-quality recording. mAVR is a miniature box with a built-in microphone and SD card connector.
mAVR-1 was applied in space as a component of scientific satellite Photon-M.
According to NASA representative’s report, all the experiments were successfully completed. Every recorder (there were 3 of them aboard and another 3 on ground) worked trouble-free and all the recordings were successfully decoded. Important data about animals’ behaviour during the spaceship start, its orbiting and primary adaptation to zero gravity were received. Every recorder worked for 7.5 hours.
And now mAVR Н.264S is ready for diving. Marine Institute (Canada) started negotiations about mAVR Н.264S delivery for their new project. It is planned that the recorder is put in an air-tight box to study fish and other undersea inhabitants’ behaviour.
